Zenith introduces the Elite 6150 model equipped with a new in-house movement: the Elite 6150 calibre. A testament to the brand's unrelenting obsession with preserving the exceptional finesse of a movement that is merely 3.92 mm thick! The Elite 6150 model is set apart by its classicism and understated elegance. Its 42 mm diameter case is enhanced by a simple, domed dial with delicate, slender hands. A model dedicated to longevity.
SIMPLE WATCH ENGINEERING
With the Elite 6150 model and its new Elite calibre, Zenith returns to the roots of the Brand's traditional expertise and craftsmanship: a true watch manufacture capable of designing prestigious complicated movements in addition to reliable and accurate classic movements. To accomplish this, the brand has focused its attention on the famous Elite base calibre, introduced in 1994. While this three-hand movement has always been considered one of the most reliable on the market, until now it has been relegated to remaining in the shadow of its famous parent, the legendary El Primero chronograph. Wrongfully so, since this robust and versatile movement has flawlessly powered ultra-thin watches and diamond-set timepieces from the Zenith collection for twenty years. Determined to perfect its renowned qualities and unleash the nearly unlimited potential of its collections, the Manufacture now offers new touches of prestige and distinction to the Elite calibre.
FOCUSING ON THE BASICS
With the goal of making the new Elite 6150 the foundation for many model variations to come, Zenith's research and development team focused on perfecting the essential basic features of the movement and boosting their performance. It is particularly fixated on doubling its power reserve – so far 55 hours – through the addition of a second barrel. The new Elite 6150 calibre now boasts a generous power reserve exceeding 4 days. During the entire development process, focus on the thickness of the movement was paramount, the preservation of its original delicacy being crucial.
A goal that was successfully accomplished, since when assembled, its 195 components do not exceed 3.92 mm thick. Meanwhile, the diameter of the calibre has been significantly enlarged to match the sizes of contemporary watches and offer a more flexible base for the addition, in the future, of a variety of functions. Another noteworthy development, the small second display, previously positioned at 9 o'clock, is now a direct central second system, providing increased range, accuracy and reliability. Offering central hour, minute and second functions, the Elite 6150 calibre beats at a frequency of 28,000 vibrations per hour.
UNDERSTATED AND ELEGANT
The first timepiece to house the new Elite calibre, the Elite 6150 model features a completely redesigned ultra-thin case, whose 42 mm diameter, unprecedented for Zenith, will be a new brand standard. Through its simple and clean design, this case expresses the care that the brand lends to constantly reinventing itself, in a spirit of longevity and a quest for the essential. Redesigned in the shape of a pebble, the new ultra-thin steel case features slender lines, the delicacy of which is highlighted by tapered and slightly sloping lugs. Water resistant up to 30 meters, the case of the Elite 6150 reveals, through its transparent case back, a mechanical movement and the oscillating weight system, delicately finished with Côtes de Genève decoration. The timeless classicism and innate elegance of this timepiece are further conveyed by the silver, domed dial and very fine baton hands. In a striking trompe-l’œil effect, the slender index markers, carved in delicate grooves, provide a sense of relief. These subtle refinements extend to a rubber-lined alligator strap, with a comfortable triple folding clasp.
