HISTORICAL WATCH SERVICE

1. Taking delivery of the watch

A specialised watchmaker performs an overall check of the functions, of the general appearance and of the running of the watch before opening it.

2. Opening

The specialised watchmaker then opens the case and takes out the movement while removing the hands and dial.

He then performs various examinations: checks on functions, operation, oils and components to be replaced.

3. Component sourcing and availability

In the event that components need to be replaced, the specialist watchmaker checks the availability of the historic components and sources them.

4. Movement

The movement is entirely disassembled

Each component is checked. Any defective components are replaced, while the other parts are mechanically cleaned in an ultrasonic bath.

The movement is reassembled, lubricated, and manually adjusted to regain its original functionality.

5. Casing up the watch

The dial and the hands are placed and adjusted on the movement, then assembled in the case.

6. Control of the movement's running and functions

The restoration watchmaker will carry out the following checks: running control in five positions, check of functions, check of autonomy and check of automatic winding.

7. Replacement of all the gaskets

If the historical watch is equipped with gaskets, the latter are all replaced (those fitted on the caseback, crystal, bezel, tube, crown, pushers and correctors where applicable).

8. Cleaning the case and bracelet

If the watch is suitable, the case is cleaned in an ultrasonic bath. Otherwise, the case is carefully cleaned by hand using a brush and specific products. The metal bracelet is also cleaned in the same manner.

9. Final aesthetic and function check

A number of tests are performed according to the watch's specifications:  automatic winding, rate and power reserve (measured and indicated to the customer for information purposes only).

Before leaving the ZENITH workshops, the restored watch is thoroughly checked.

The restoration watchmaker performs a final function check as well as a final aesthetic check.

Optional restoration procedures - Dial restoration

Where necessary and feasible, dial restoration is offered as an optional extra and an estimate is provided. If the estimate is approved, all dial elements requiring intervention are then restored by a specialist.

Optional restoration procedures - Refinishing of the case and bracelet

The case and its various parts are entirely disassembled.

Then, if suitable, the case, the crown and the pushers are refinished while preserving the original condition and the age of the watch.

The metal bracelet is also refinished, in the same manner.

Optional restoration procedures - Performing additional operations

All additional interventions or operations that are not included in the conservation services.
